Forum Semproni
FORUM SEMPRONI (Fossombrone) Umbria, Italy.
Probably a foundation of C. Sempronius Gracchus, ca. 3 km NE of Fossombrone on the river Metaurus near S. Martino al Piano. It belonged to the tribus Pollia. It commanded the approach from the Adriatic to the Gola del Furlo, through which the Via Flaminia passes, and to this owed its prosperity. Ruins may be seen at the site, and material from excavations is in the Museo Vernarecci in the Palazzo delle Scuole at Fossombrone.
